40mm Cartridge - Target Practice

American Ordnance LLC, operator of the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, produces the 40mm Target Practice cartridge ammunition for the U.S. Army, Marines and other State Department approved customers.

USE: This cartridge is a target practice and gun proofing round designed to simulate the M430 cartridge. It is fired from the 40mm Grenade Launchers M75 and M129, as well as the 40mm Machine Gun MK 19.

DESCRIPTION: The cartridge is a fixed round of ammunition consisting of a one-piece aluminum projectile body which is fitted to a cartridge case assembly and linked in belts of 32 cartridges.

40mm Cartridge - High Explosive Dual Purpose

American Ordnance LLC, operator of the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, produces the 40mm High Explosive Dual Purpose cartridge ammunition for the U.S. Army, Marines and other State Department approved customers.

USE: This cartridge is a dual purpose impact type round which is designed to penetrate at least two inches of steel armor at 0 angle of obliquity and inflict personnel casualties in the target area. It is fired from the 40mm Grenade Launchers M75 and M129, as well as the 40mm Machine Gun MK 19.

DESCRIPTION: The cartridge is a fixed round of ammunition consisting of an internally embossed, one-piece steel projectile body which is fitted to a cartridge case assembly. A PIBD fuze assembly with a Comp CH6 spitback charge and copper cone liner is pressed into the open well of the projectile cavity. The fuze assembly seals the front end of the projectile cavity which contains the high explosive, shaped charge.

DESCRIPTION: The cartridge is a fixed round of ammunition consisting of a projectile body containing the explosive shape charge, a cartridge case assembly and a PIBD fuze. The explosive main charge is Composition A-5. The PIBD fuze is assembled with a Composition CH-6 spitback assembly that provides the base detonation when the fuze is impacted at target.

USE: This cartridge is a target practice round designed to simulate the M430 cartridge. It is fired from the 40mm Grenade Launchers M75 and M129, as well as the 40mm Machine Gun MK 19.

DESCRIPTION: The cartridge is a fixed round of ammunition consisting of a one-piece steel projectile body which is fitted to a cartridge case assembly. An ogive containing the firing pin and M550 escapement is threaded to the body. The ogive assembly seals the front end of the projectile cavity which contains an aluminum insert with a flash charge. Upon impact with the target the flash charge ruptures the bottom of the projectile producing a flash, smoke and loud report.
